Samsung may unveil a foldable smartphone at MWC 2017

Samsung has been rumored to be working on a foldable smartphone for quite some time now, plus has even filed multiple patents for the same. Last month, renders of the company’s alleged ‘Galaxy X’ foldable smartphone surfaced online.According to a recent report, the company may reveal its foldable smartphone at the upcoming MWC 2017 conference.

The report by Korean website etnews claims that Samsung may showcase devices by means of foldable display panels that bend both inward plus outward.

It goes on to mention that the smartphone will come by means of an ‘underfold’ plus thus won’t be able to fold exactly in half. This will likely allow a portion of the display to be exposed, where users will be able to access key apps quickly plus check notifications.

The renders of Samsung’s foldable smartphone, which were shared a while back by GizmoChina website, illustrate a foldable display that can be converted into a tablet or mini-computer screen. As soon as unfolded, multiple displays combine to form a 7-inch rectangular panel.

In addition, the renders highlight inward plus outward folding components, plus show a wireless keyboard as well. The presence of the wireless keyboard indicates that the device can also be used in laptop mode.

A recent report by a Korean publication revealed that Samsung has shipped over 1,000,000 units for the said fold-out device. According to reports LG is also making foldable display panels for different manufacturers like Huawei.
